Why...?
Why...wbluebook, Whitcomb Bluebook, and the JBW logo?

    WBlueBook stands for "Whitcomb Bluebook".
JBW is our combined initials, Jim and Brenda Whitcomb.
For further details see our About page.
Why...the waterfall pictures?

    Simple answer: we like waterfalls.
A better answer, perhaps, is that our county, Transylvania County in North Carolina, is called the "Land of Waterfalls" due to large number of waterfalls resulting from our rough terrain and ample rain.
In addition, our daughter is a great amateur photographer and these are a few of her pictures (visit her site to be awed!)
Why...the Whitcomb Family Trust?

Many years ago we formed the Trust as a means to transfer our belongings to our children, much as Jim's mother did years before she died. We encourage you to consider this financial planning tool: contact your financial advisor and lawyer.
The connection of the Trust to this website, however, is much more limited. One aspect of the trust has been to pass on to our descendants the stories of our families. This resulted in the Trust becoming a publisher of our heritage. It is this aspect of the Trust presented by this site.
Why...the heart and cross logo?

The symbol can be translated, "Love in Christ." Jim has used this with his signature or initials for years. For a more complete understanding of the image, check out the heart and cross page.
Why...the spinning circles?

Just because I could! This site design was undertaken in part as a learning experience. In this case, I learned how to create an animated image.
Almost everything has a meaning behind the scene. A circle can represent the infinite, and as such represents God. Just as a circle has no beginning or end, so too with our infinite God. The clockwise motion infers moving into the future while the counter-clockwise motion has us recall the past. Where these two meet is the present.
The circle with motion can also denote the connections of the various parts of this site; each is indirectly connected to all the others, just as God's people are all interconnected, whether near or far, past, present or future.
Why...the blue ribbons?

Well, why not? We like blue. And it looks good (even if that is a biased opinion.) Isn't that sufficient justification?
Why...CSTS?

When Jim retired at the start of our current millennium, he formed CSTS. He has since retired again, leaving CSTS defunct. For more information refer to the CSTS page.
Why...the icon?

Since Jim was in high school all those decades ago he has used the brand as his initials, from which it is derived: JAW.
Why...Christianity?

Because it is true. It takes more faith to be an atheist or a believer in other religions than it does to be a Christian. Christian faith is rational; it invites the intellect to be involved, thinking is just as important as feeling. To believe in Christianity, that is, to believe in a risen and living Jesus Christ, does not set aside any scientific knowledge or logic or historical investigation.
